Georgian Technical University hosted international particle physics masterclass Hands on Particle physics from 23rd to 25th October.

Hands on particle physics is huge international masterclass and its main aim is to popularize particle physics, masterclass is involving 52 countries and more than 200 universities or research centers, which gives opportunity to youth aged 15-19  to unravel the mysteries of particle physics. Lectures from active scientists give insight in topics and methods of basic research at the fundaments of matter and forces, enabling the students to perform measurements on real data from particle physics experiments themselves.

Lectures in the morning were read by guests from CERN Dr JEAN-PIERRE CHARLES REVOL and IPPOG (International Particle Physics Outreach Group) Coordinator from ALICE Dr HATZIFOTIADOU Despina. Participants also had the opportunity to “visit” CERN with virtual tour. See for themselves scientists working on the experiment and ask them questions.

Local organization of event was done by IPPOG responsible person in Georgia MIRZIASHVILI Keti and Georgian Engineering Team (GET).
